Year 2005, I started venture around on Internet and were a total zero knowledge on what blog really is. I was really amaze on how Google Search provide information just click of a search button. Website were top listed on what many are doing, and I wasn't there at all. I really curious on how people manage to get their website listed on Google search and how they manage to do it, I mean there is definitely around more than millions of website out there, and Google is able to give the result with a click in seconds.
When I say I am jobless, but it wasn't jobless at all in the year 2005, I was working in a company doing sales, I spend some of my spend times searching for clues and information on products that I am selling. Its a kind of thing most people do, when they want information about something, and most of them Google it. My boss, James, a kind boss and a great guru for a board game. I learn most of the board game tactics from him, starting zero to intermediate. I even joined a competition at that time, but wasn't that lucky after reaching round 2, where I have to play with a 10years experienced player, and did tried my best to defeat him.
Beside the board game, James were also quite good in Internet website building, and mention how he last time do a website and how he gain money from it, but it wasn't easy at all, time is what you need to spend most on it. From learning on coding, to maintaining it. He give up doing few years back and focus on the current business his having, and I am there to help.
James : "You need to spend a lot of time trying to code and maintain, but there is much more yet I myself need to learn."
Me : "What about Google Search results?"
James : "They call it SEO short terms for Search Engine Optimize, its hard and need a lot of work to be on top of the search result on a certain keyword. I don't think I currently have any."
The conversation paused here, and there aren't any mentioned about on how it is done. But the bad thing about me, when I am interested to know something, I won't give up on looking for it. That's what I did throughout my life, never give up. Our shop were in a shopping mall, and business wise, there is, but not very satisfy. One day, the management of the shopping mall request all shop have to be relocated, and needed to renovate our shop for image improvement for the mall, James was not so happy about it, cos we just started not long, merely about 1 or 2 years there, having good image is good, but without a proper business monthly sales, that's not good at all. James already know that, customer walking by our shop is not that populated and it is not up to what he expect it should be. In the end, James decided to close the shop and move back to HQ, offering me to go back work with him. You know what, I am very pleased with the offer, but I foreseen something in which I can start with and its a bit risk to do so, but I know it is worth it. I tell James that I can't cos I have another plan for my career or maybe a crazy thoughts. When James asked what am I going to do, if I leave the company, and I answered with a prompt confidence, doing website for living. Doing website? What kind of word is that? Actually it mean, I want to create a website to sell products online or maybe share products information online. At first, James disagree with my decision, but I insist to resign. What James was trying to tell me is, it is hard to start with nothing that I really know or have any clue about website. Well, to be honest, this life is where its start, I got to learn, and I know I can do it, maybe not. But if I never try, I will never know it will work or not.
I left the company by the end of the year, and started a small website, which is ridiculously there is nothing to do with sales. I hosted my website local on my computer, register my website via a free dyndns which route back to my home computer. When I say, ridiculously, it sure is, cos what I am hosting is, games, an online games sharing information about what the online games about and items in it. Gosh, what am I earning? No income yet but what gain was knowledge on doing the website and putting it live, and visitors from the games itself.
How in the world that I get visitors? What is the Next Steps I explore into and found out, a way to gain money from the games and not the website, on my Chapter 2 - Next Steps I explore into and found out.
